5 Acre earthwork at Musuem of Contemporary Art, Miami, FL
1993
This work was composed of Three elements. The first is a 20 ft. in diameter pool of black water that intermittently flushed into the earth and then resurfaced, gurguling. The second is a 130 ft long berm made of concrete and terracotta. Evenly spaced over the surface were water cooled subwoofers that played back low frequency sounds that simulate earth tremors. And the thrid is a 30 ft in diameter grassy hill, with a hollow segment with several thousand watts of high and mid range speakers that plat back sounds of indigenous animals long lost to development.
